The FindIT Search feature is designed to work on IE 8.0 (running on windows XP), thru IE 11.0, as well as on current versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari internet browsers. Older operating systems such as XP may contain limitations that will prevent the Search from working on IE. XP users: Microsoft will discontinue support on April 8, 2014. This means they will no longer update the Security Essentials for XP leaving your computer vulnerable to hackers, scammers, viruses, and malware. When the FindIT search box appears to the left in Orgill.com, there should be two dropdown menus in the box. Please see image to the left. If the “Select” drop down menu is missing, the browser did not load the search box correctly. This may be corrected by simply deleting Temporary internet files and cookies. This is a browser specific function and instructions for each browser are listed in the Website FAQs on Orgill.com (link provided under Information or at the bottom right of every page on the site). Selecting Internet Options from the Computers Control panel will only delete files for Internet Explorer. If Chrome, Firefox or Safari are being used, please refer to the instructions in Website FAQs to delete these files and cookies. Computer cleaning programs may also be used for this purpose and most will find files and cookies for all browsers. Windows also provides built in tools to perform these functions. There are several available online and some of them are free. Do some research to find the one best for you, remember, just because there is a fee for the software or service does not always mean it is better. |

Java should also be up-to-date on the computer. While the search does not use Java™, we have found that when it is not up to date on the computer things don’t work well. In the Control Panel, Click on the Java™ Icon to open the Java Control Panel. Click on the Update Tab. If the Java™ icon or link does not appear in the control panel, it may not be installed on this computer. Please go to www.java.com where you can: click on the link “Do I have Java?”. This will allow you to run a quick program to check your computer for an up to date version of Java. A free Java™ Download is available there for out of date or missing Java™ programs. Java™ comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions depending on the internet browser you are using. To verify the browser go to www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml and follow the instructions. You can download the correct version of Java from that screen as well. |

Sometimes the quickest and easiest way is to right click on the download link and select "Save Target As" or"Save Link as", depending on the browser being used, allowing the file to be saved directly to the local computer and then opened in the proper program.
There are some default settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer that need to be changed. These are changed in the Internet Options Area. In Internet Explorer look for a TOOLS Menu option at the top. If there is not a list of menus along the top, hit the Alt key on the keyboard. This should make the Menu Bar visible at the top.
