MARKET-SPECIFIC PRICING PROGRAM

Our proprietary program uses science-driven, local data to create a customized retail snapshot of your market.

The Right Strategy

See how Orgill can help your unique business become more competitive with our micro-marketing approach: Using data from your immediate area, Orgill is able to create market-specific pricing for increased sales and profitability. Add that to our low cost of goods, and watch your margin grow.

This program allows us to conduct local research and see how you can price your products to help you run a better, more profitable business. The goal is to increase transaction sizes and gross margins.

Our retail-pricing strategy is customizable to your business and your market. Pricing can vary across the country, throughout different regions, and even within the same city, meaning the same item might be priced differently at multiple retailers within a certain area.

Dealers can choose any number of pre-set, generalized pricing structures. For a more-custom option, dealers may purchase a standalone MSP study and then work with our team to build their own custom pricing model.

MARKET SPECIFIC PRICING PROGRAM

Our proprietary program uses science-driven, local data to create a customized retail snapshot of your market.

Market-Specific Pricing Features:

Market-Specific Pricing (MSP) Study: For a fee of $750, Orgill's pricing department will conduct a detailed study of a dealer's local market, including web crawling specific Lowe's and Home Depot stores in their area. This results in highly customized pricing recommendations that consider the local competitive landscape and pricing trends.

  • Comprehensive audit of all inventory
  • Supported with ongoing research
  • No ongoing fees

Orgill's MSP strategy provides a system that can adjust a retailer's prices to match any competitive situation and desired price position, based on local market conditions.

Market-Specific Pricing establishes a retail price-positioning plan customized for your store, based on your local market conditions.

MSP utilizes retail sensitivity codes to comprehensively and systematically manage your retail pricing. This methodical approach enhances price image and maximizes gross margin dollars.

MSP Process

To begin the MSP process, a research team will conduct a complete price audit of your retail operation, covering a sampling of products from all core hardware departments over all eight levels of price sensitivity. After the research has been gathered, this pricing information is then entered into a pricing template. Through this template, you can determine where your store is positioned compared to other similar retailers in your market while considering all eight sensitivity levels.

Once the data has been applied, you will be able to create a retail price positioning plan by making a price decision for each sensitivity code.
"We were working on improving our margins. Orgill’s programs have helped us identify where we needed to cut prices and even where we could raise prices to build sales, and we have still seen margins increase in certain categories."

Market-Responsive Pricing

Our Market-Responsive Pricing (MRP) service is free to Orgill customers as an alternative to our MSP program. The MRP strategy is market-based, but not market-specific.

We offer three Market Type profiles: Leader, Aggressive, and Passive.

  • Leader-Pricing Strategy: This profile is ideal if a dealer has a National competitor like Lowe's or Home Depot nearby. It positions them competitively on price-sensitive items to attract customers.
  • Aggressive-Pricing Strategy: This is a good option if the dealer has some competition in the area, but it's not directly in their backyard. It offers a balance between competitive pricing and healthy margins.
  • Passive-Pricing Strategy: This profile is best suited for rural areas with less competition. It allows for higher margins on less price-sensitive items.
  • Custom Pricing Profiles: Dealers can create fully customized pricing profiles that deviate from the standard Leader, Aggressive, and Passive options. This allows them to set specific markups or markdowns for each sensitivity code, tailoring their strategy even more precisely to their unique market and business goals.
